The Materials We Use

At NEYA, all metals used in manufacturing are sourced through recycled and sustainable supply chains.

Solid 18K Gold

We choose 18K gold for its rich color and balance of beauty, quality, and durability. It is composed of 75% pure gold and 25% other metals, which give it greater strength than higher-purity gold, such as 24K, which is softer and more prone to bending and scratching.

We can also make pieces to order in solid 14K or 18K yellow or white gold, depending on your preference. 14K gold contains 58.5% pure gold, while 18K contains 75%. White gold is made by alloying gold with other metals to create a lighter color. Please allow 4–6 weeks for made to order pieces to ship. To begin a custom order, email us at .

18K Gold Vermeil

Our gold vermeil is made from 925 sterling silver plated with 18K gold. Our pieces are plated with 3.5 microns of 18K gold and finished with a protective anti-tarnish e-coating. The gold layer is 40% thicker than the 2.5-micron minimum required for vermeil in the United States.

Vermeil offers the look and warmth of gold with a sterling silver base. It’s a popular choice for those who want the beauty of gold at a more accessible price.

925 Sterling Silver

Silver is available in several grades, which indicate how much pure silver an alloy contains. Common grades include 800, 830, 895, 900, and 925 silver. At NEYA, we exclusively use 925 sterling silver: 92.5% pure silver, alloyed with 7.5% other metals to give it added strength. This blend preserves silver’s bright luster while adding strength and durability, making it a popular choice for fine jewelry.

All of our sterling silver pieces are finished with rhodium, a precious metal in the platinum family. This thin coating gives a bright, reflective, silver-like finish and acts as a protective surface layer, helping slow tarnishing and oxidation, though it won’t prevent all scratches or wear.

Gold and Rhodium Plated Brass

We may use brass for a limited number of larger pieces, allowing us to create bold designs at a more accessible price. Brass is an alloy made primarily from copper and zinc. Depending on the design, it is finished with either a 3.5-micron layer of 18K gold and a protective anti-tarnish e-coating, or with rhodium for a bright, reflective, silver-like finish. Rhodium is a precious metal in the platinum family and helps protect the brass surface.

Brass has a different base metal from gold vermeil and rhodium-finished sterling silver, which are made with 925 sterling silver. Any piece made with brass will be identified in its product description.

Hand-Blown Glass

We use hand-blown glass for a select few special pieces, all made by hand in NYC. The glass is heated until it becomes workable, then shaped by a glass artist using traditional glassblowing techniques. Because each piece is individually formed by hand, subtle variations in shape, color, and finish are natural. These small differences make each piece unique.

Craftsmanship & Precious Metal Sourcing

NEYA produces pieces in small quantities, keeping production intentional and closely considered. Our jewelry is manufactured in New Jersey with an emphasis on responsible sourcing, ethical production, and carefully considered supply chains, including the responsible sourcing of precious metals.
